I was up in LA this week for work and wanted to stop into Simplethings for lunch and a sweet treat.

I had heard about it before in the blog world and wasn't disappointed!

The menu was unique and the food was delicious.

And who doesn't like the assortment of mini pies?

The Wedding of Mikelle & Jud

I am so excited to share with you photos from the wedding I styled for Mikelle and Jud!

The wedding was in May in Salt Lake City, Utah at the McCune Mansion.

We didn't want to distract from the beautiful and historical mansion, and the bride really wanted the evening to feel classic, romantic, intimate and not the least bit trendy. 

The day was perfect, and the gorgeous newlyweds were happy and so in love.

How gorgeous is the bride?  It definitely helped that she was stunning, stylish, and sure of her visual voice.

 The McCune Mansion has such a great presence, we were able to highlight it's beauty without taking away from the architectural detail.

We really wanted the mansion to be a large part of the aesthetic.

 The florals were very romantic.  Sprigs at each place setting, loose centerpieces, and everything drenched in candlelight.

 I posted about these books that I made inspired by a Martha Stewart Weddings guest sign in idea.

 The bride's cousin is an artist, we had her sketch different scenes throughout the evening.

 We wanted to have photos of the couple from childhood to engagement, but we wanted to put our own twist on it rather than a video montage playing.  This was our take.  Can you tell that I am obsessed with interior styling and wanted to bring a touch of that in?  Color and black and white photos were placed in vintage and new frame collections through out the mansion.

 We had a harpist playing throughout the garden hors d'oeuvres and during the sit down dinner.

 The framed photos were a great conversation piece for guests as well!

 A live band serenaded the dance floor for the last hour during the cake, dancing, and dessert.

It was such a great experience to work with the Petersen's and get to know them.

Fall is here with the weather cooling down, and with me baking up spiced fall treats!

This weekend it was pumpkin chocolate chip muffins.

We enjoyed another relaxing weekend together watching movies, baking, celebrating a birthday with the most delicious vegan coconut cake in the park, and starting/finishing up some house projects.

I can't stop thinking about the orb chandelier that Orlando made for the space.

It is so beautiful and architectural and genius!

Happy Monday

Happy Monday!

We had a great low key weekend.

We welcomed our nephew, the most beautiful baby boy, into the world all weekend long.

Organized (nesting), ate good food, watched football, and enjoyed each other's company.

We actually had a bit of fall weather this weekend!  

Is there anything better than the changing of seasons from summer to fall?

A couple impromptu dance parties of course.

Can you tell she loves to dance?

Enjoyed the flea market with this bombshell above.

We found this beauty of a chair for her place, and I am obsessed!

My body may have fallen apart after our morning of scouring.

This pregnancy has not been easy on my bod, baby boy is big and healthy in there.

And that is all that matters.

Wishes For Baby

As mentioned, I helped with a baby shower for one of my besties.  I made the garlands mentioned here.

I had seen the idea of "wishes for baby" a while back and had it stored away to use for someone special.  I was so excited to make some for Lisa! 

It was really fun to read some of the guests wishes for Lisa's baby girl.

I know this is something I would love to have for my babes!

You can get sentimental or comical with your remarks, it was a great party idea.

Update:  Some of you have asked how I made these, I created them in Illustrator, then printed and cut them out.  

Back To School Report

The night before school we ran to the mall to find something special for Presley's first day of school.  I didn't get a thing of my wish list ... maybe one day when the sales hit?

But, we did find about 12 things I was dying over at Zara kids!  We had to narrow that down from 12 to about 2, but I was happy with what we found.

 We paired this darling check dress with Presley's Minnetonka mocs and her Cath Kidston backpack

(the backpack we ordered hasn't come yet!)

I can't believe my girl is off at preschool!  

She loved every minute of it.

Back To School Daydreams

I know most of you are back in school, but Presley starts her first year of preschool tomorrow.

With no first day of school outfit picked out yet, 

I found myself daydreaming last night what I would put her in if I wasn't worried about a thing and it was cold outside.
