Tasty Little Owls

My mom found this darling little treat on a blog
(I don't know which one - if you do, please tell me!)
I had play group at my house this week, so we decided to give it a try!
All the kids loved it.
They had fun making them and eating them.

Take half of a graham cracker and cut a marshmallow in half.
Place towards top of graham cracker sticky side down.
Place a yellow candy coating disc on each marshmallow for the eyes.
Put in microwave for 7 seconds
Remove and add a chocolate chip to the center of each eye.
Add a candy corn in the middle of the eyes for the beak.
And you have a tasty little owl!

christmas card inspiration

I walked away from the mall today with the crewcuts catalog in hand,
and haven't stopped thinking about the styling all day!

I may have had Dan agree to do this style of photo for our Christmas card this year ....
Until he reminded me that it may not be the most flattering angle of the two of us,
and he's absolutely right.
But I still might make him do it - or i'll be saving this in my back pocket for when I have more kiddos running around!

I absolutely love these photos.
j.crew does it again.

halloween costumes

I had a scary realization today - I need to make Presley's costume in one week!
I have not even started, and this weekend is too busy, so I'm hoping I can pull it off by next weekend.
Time is flying by.

I could not get enough of Presley in her costume last year! So the pressure is on.
Here are some shots of our little chickie in '09.

I simplified the Martha Stewart chick costume.
Presley was a hit and it was easy to make!

Dan wanted to dress up as a rooster to coordinate with Presley.
I made him a rooster tail too.
I loved it!

client's custom mirror

I spent the morning with one of my clients (also known as my mom) designing a custom mirror for her dining room.
We used the mirror found in Celerie Kemble's gorgeous home as inspiration.
I am really excited to see it done. We are trying to finish the room by Thanksgiving,
and Alice Lane is helping with the host and hostess chairs in the room too - so you know it's going to be amazing!

Here is a sneak peek of the wallpaper that I found at Walnut Wallpaper in West Hollywood.
(They have an insane collection of wallpaper! Check it out.)

madewell moment

I'm slightly obsessed with this poncho right now.
But I've never had a poncho moment,
so I'm not sure that I could pull it off.
Do you like ponchos?

I am loving this dress too...

And really, I can't get enough of this outfit or her hair color.

Check out Madewell's looks we love to see more.

stormy mood

It was so stormy all day today.
And I was obsessed.
There is nothing better after too many hot days into the fall.
I hope it lasts, I love being warm and cozy inside while it is moody outside.
And Presley really loves playing in the rain.

Gallery Wall Addition

We added to our gallery wall.
We use this wall as our "travel wall"
We hope to fill in every frame with a different trip eventually.
(until then we have them filled with trips and family photos)
It is a fun way to tell our story and our travels!
I went back and forth about doing this for a few months now,
and Dan gave me the push to do it.
So we did, and I love it!

Here is a before shot:

NYC: where we ate

Bread in Tribeca on Church St.

Olives in Soho
on Prince Street between Greene and Wooster
BEST butternut squash soup I've ever had.

Becco on Restaurant Row in the Theater District.
355 W. 46th St
The most amazing heirloom tomato salad!

A few trips to AQ Kafe
Delicious egg bake and yummy almond croissants.
I think we went there every morning?

STK in the Meat Packing District
I love this area,
and despite the loudest restaurant I've ever eaten in,
I was obsessed with the ambiance and the amazing food!
A must.

Cafe Habana in Soho
Just order the fried plantains and the grilled corn.

And let us not forget Levain Bakery.
I went here too many times to tell, its embarrassing.
I've never had a better cookie.
Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Chip all the way, and maybe the Oatmeal Raisin.
Run, don't walk.

NYC: where we stayed part two

The first night was just my mom and I
We stayed in Tribeca at the Grand Tribeca Hotel.
It was fun and very urban,
We loved being so close to Soho for a couple days,
and made sure to get some shopping in before the boys arrived!

I think my favorite part of the hotel was that all the male workers wore these gingham shirts.

NYC: where we stayed part one

For the majority of our trip we stayed at The Empire Hotel in the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
It was an amazing hotel with great design!
I loved staying here and was so inspired by the space.
I would definitely recommend it.
Yes, it is the hotel from Gossip Girl, and no we did not order the I'm a Chuck Bass.
(insert smiley face)

The first night we stayed in Tribeca, which was fun and nice to spend a day in Soho, but the location of the Empire Hotel was much prettier and it was so close to Central Park which I love!

Here are some shots of our room.

Loved the wall paper in the halls of the hotel.

We enjoyed spending some time up on the rooftop as well.
A great setting and amazing views!
